The audience hears a voice coming from a cell phone. It talks about how a place called Earth existed long ago and what an amazing place it was.
Mother Eartha interrupts the "voice", claiming, "I’m still here!" She introduces herself to the audience and tells them she is in serious trouble. She is losing air. The culprit is Count AirGo, a well-meaning but easily led aristocrat who is gathering up all the clean air for his Air Show and storing it in his giant All Factory. The CEO of his All Factory is GustOff who oversees the coloring and bottling of the air to sell as Air Apparent. GustOff has convinced AirGo that it is alright to pollute the air because it is possible to make new air. AirGo believes this lie and continues to go around collecting all the air. GustOff is the real villain since he knows that new air can’t be made once the clean air is gone. He doesn’t care about how the lack of clean air will affect anyone or anything as long as he makes money.
Mother Eartha collects her troops–JetStream, the self-proclaimed hero, AirIn, his heroine, and four children who represent the "Next Generation". She explains that no one takes this problem seriously, no matter how many times she has warned them. JetStream, AirIn and the "next generation" vow to help her and they begin a journey to discovery what might stop Count AirGo from poisoning the air.
On the way, they learn about how bubbles exist, and research the science of Air on the Internet. As they learn, the audience learns more and more about important things that air does. The gang meets people who babble in rhythmic gibberish (the ones who have, for so long, ignored Mother Eartha’s warnings of danger). They stop at BloomInhale’s Department Store, where clerks are selling flasks of Air Apparent, the colored air made by AirGo at his All Factory.
During all this, we witness encounters between GustOff and AirGo in which GustOff convinces his boss that air can be made at any time and it is not wrong to pollute. But, AirGo finally understands the danger he is creating by using up the world’s clean air supply to create the Air Apparent, and eventually helps Mother Eartha and her gang to stop the process. GustOff is hopeless and must go. The others rejoice in the knowledge that they have stopped this problem for the moment and the Mother Eartha can undo the horrible effects of the pollution if humans will only stop getting in the way.
