About This Show

The Bayer Children’s Theatre Series offers a wide selection of performing arts presentations including juggling routines, music and dancing, and well-known children’s stories acted out on stage.

All shows are scheduled for 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM on their respective performance dates. Ticket prices also include admission to the Morris Museum’s galleries, except where noted.

The Fairytale Life of Hans Christian Andersen
Saturday, October 21
Ages 5 – 11
Once upon a time there lived a boy who was so poor that all he owned was the suit of clothes he was wearing. Even those were too small for him, yet his spirit was unwavering. Using puppets, music and the artfulness of imagination, the boyhood story of Danish storyteller Hans Christian Andersen comes to life.

The Frog Prince
Friday, November 10
Ages 4 – Adult
A selfish princess loses her toy ball in the pond of an unkempt palace garden. A frog retrieves it for her, and to thank him for his kindness, she promises to have the frog to supper – or does she mean for supper! This frog is not an ordinary frog; he is a handsome prince under a witch’s spell. Before dinner is served, a chase ensues between the frog, his valet, the cook, the princess and even the king. Only a kiss can break the spell and reveal the truth about the frog.

Museum admission is not included with this performance.

Yosi & The Super Dads
Wednesday, December 27
Ages Pre-K – 8
The popular singer/songwriter and his rockin’ band of Super Dads perform tight four-part harmonies in a lively and humorous family concert. Join in the fun as they get on a chugging train, wiggle like a worm, act like “Six Little Monkeys,” enjoy some “Chicken Noodle Soup,” look for those “Stinky Shoes Blues,” and make “Friends Around the World.” This show is full of music and laughter family style!

The Gizmo Guys

Ages 5 – Adult
Not just juggling acts, The Gizmo Guys are recognized around the world for their rapid-fire performance that exhilarates and inspires sidesplitting laughter in audiences of all ages. With original routines, quick-witted verbal repartee and world class juggling skills, this show is perfect holiday entertainment.

Cinderella’s Storyland
Friday, December 29
Ages 5 – 9
This classic story is timeless with a twist! Cinderella is about to marry the prince, but her fairy godmother appears with a riddle she must solve first. The wedding cannot take place until the soon-to-be princess goes on this hilarious search. Join Cinderella in song and dance to help her carefully hide from the giant and to finally marry her prince.

Thaddeus Rex’s Think 4 Fun
Monday, February 19
Ages 4 – 11
Blending the energy of rock with the sensibility of folk, this interactive performance gets everyone jumping and screaming about the power of reading and imagination. T-Rex is a PBS veteran who passionately endorses books with award winning music. The program, described as “part Monty Python, part Dr. Seuss” by The Washington Post, has also been hailed as “a sincere celebration of reading” by The Los Angeles Times).

Museum admission is not included with this performance.

Pinocchio
Saturday, March 31
Extra Performance: Friday, March 30 at 4:00 PM
Ages K – 4
This unique production of Pinocchio features 14 marionettes and seven live actors, as well as a marionette circus complete with a parade, tightrope walker, a juggler and Harlequin, the famous talking horse.

The Fantastic Mr. Fox
Saturday, April 14
Ages 5 – 13
In a garden tale of three farmers versus vermin, or vice versa, Mr. Fox finds himself unable to feed his wife and their three young fox cubs. While other animals in the area have the same problem, the fantastic Mr. Fox hatches a remarkable plan to save the day for all.
