About the Show

Often called the greatest play ever written in the English language, Shakespeare’s timeless revenge tragedy weaves ghosts, murders, pirates, and poetry into a stunning meditation on what it means to be human.

Says Director/Producer Jason Cannon: “[Hamlet is] one of the most active characters ever written, and when you combine constant action with stunning language–especially in the capable hands of a natural-born verse-actor like Jim Butz–you’re going to get something special […] we simply [want] to present the action of the play cleanly and clearly […] Let Shakespeare’s language do the work for us.”

Jim Butz is a four-time Kevin Kline Award-nominee, and has most recently been seen in the critically acclaimed A Number at the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, and in two Kevin Kline-nominated Shakespearean turns last year, in Troilus and Cressida at St. Louis Shakespeare and as Mark Anthony in the St. Louis Shakespeare Festival’s Julius Caesar. He is the brother of Tony Award-winner Norbert Leo Butz.

Tickets are available at the theater box office; cash or check only.
