About This Show
Two lust filled lovers, Lysander and Hermia, are running from a death sentence handed down from Hermia’s father, Egeus, because she won’t marry Demetrius, a wealthy man who, unfortunately, has already de-flowered the one woman who loves him, Helena. Fleeing to a neighboring enchanted forest, the four “lovers” become the playthings of the Fairy King, Oberon, and his servant, the wily Puck. These two mischief makers are also tempting the fates of free will — with the help of some magic flowers — by forcing the Fairy Queen, Titania, to fall madly in love with an Ass. The Ass is a man called Bottom, who is a part of a small band of not-so-elegant actors who are in the forest rehearsing their not-so-elegant play, which will be performed for Duke Theseus on his wedding night.
