Susan Grilli directs Two by Tenn: A Perfect Analysis Given By A Parrot & Something Unspoken, by Tennessee Williams, performed by David Erickson,John Buckingham, Karen Maloney, and Marjorie Conn.
A Perfect Analysis Given By A Parrot is a delightful play about two fading overdressed women who hit town for an annual convention. In their search for boys & a high old time, they wind up in a third rate bar trying hard to be cheerful. Each is soon finding fault with the other and they are resigned to a miserable time until something unexpected happens.
Something Unspoken explores the themes of deception and hidden sexuality. It’s a comic play about Cornelia as she anxiously awaits the result of her possible election as Regent with the Confederate Daughters. At the same time, she confronts her companion/secretary, Grace, about the awkward state of their fifteen-year relationship. Grace & Cornelia are developed with remarkable insight and there is an underlying current of irony & horror. Something happened long ago which Grace denies talking about despite Cornelia’s insistence. The feeling is that there was an awkward sexual scene between the two.
