Strike Up The Band

American Classics presents The Gershwins’ Strike Up the Band in the original 1927 version. The plot of the 1927 Strike Up the Band is different from the revision of 1930. In this version Horace J. Fletcher, owner of Fletcher’s American Cheese, stirs up a war against Switzerland when he feels the Swiss have insulted his cheese. Plot complications and romantic entanglement ensue with accusations flying, but war and love both come to happy conclusions.
