About This Show

Dream KFC. Eat KFC. Love KFC. Aug, Oct, Dec, Jan, and Mar embark on an epic allegorical journey to reach the KFC. But the busiest highway in the world stands in their way. Jan discovers the color red, Mar plants magical talking trees, and Dec works a job selling Krazy Koala Kola, while Aug and Oct just want to eat; anything.

Baboons, deer, and chickens litter the landscape (literally) as the playwright draws symbolic parallels to the current plight in South Africa. Large corporations consistently exploit impoverished people, and nowhere is it more prevalent than in the townships of South Africa, where abject poverty and a cold Coca-Cola come hand-in-hand. Spring Chicken or When I Flew the Coop seeks to heighten this awareness, but does so in a comedic, absurd, and farcical way. As humor comes from misery, laughter comes from pain, and chicken comes from death, poverty remains. Thank god for KFC.
