Aaron Sorkin’s stage adaptation of Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird is a powerful drama directed by Bartlett Sher. Set in 1934 Alabama, the play follows lawyer Atticus Finch as he defends Tom Robinson, a Black man falsely accused of rape. Unlike the novel, the play centers on Atticus as the primary protagonist to show his moral growth.
