ABOUT THE NEW ALBUM
Versatile drummer and composer Wayne Maureau’s latest release, “At the Water’s Edge” features 10 original compositions inspired by water or places bordering water. He performs here in two trios; 6 tracks in an acoustic format with pianist Joe Ashlar and bassist Ed Wise, and 4 more with pianist Jordan Baker and Brian Quezergue on electric bass, are interspersed for a funkier edge. New Orleans, often referred to as the northern-most city of the Caribbean, is Wayne’s hometown. His compositions draw from the cultural diversity and rich musical history of the city, while bringing his own vision to life. From an adventurous calypso to an introspective swing to a funky samba “At the Water’s Edge” is a musical metaphor for the ebb and flow of life in the crescent city.
As of mid-January, At The Water's Edge is also currently at #7 on the Roots Music Report’s Top 50 Louisiana Albums of 2023!
