Maximum Security tells the story of Everywoman, struggling for identity and reaching for the light in the straight-jacketed prison of indifferent social contract and authority. "A prison of the mind? A prison of the soul?" asks playwright Evelyn Rudie. "The show explores the choices of fitting in or standing out, and which will most effectively support our survival. How can we take up the mantel of adult capability when our imagination, desires and creativity are locked away in solitary?" The all-female cast tackles these questions through powerful songs that express the dreams and uncertainty of first love and last good-byes; of facing tomorrow with confusion, joy, regret and awe; and of the ultimate choice between inspired chaos and confined security.
