Touch the Sky

Inspired by a conjure tale from the Carolina coast, Touch the Sky tells the story of Belle, the daughter of a slave owner and his slave. Granted freedom by her father, Belle’s emancipation is challenged when her father presents her to a black freeman he has chosen for her to marry. Already in love with one of her father’s slaves, Belle seeks the powers of a conjure woman to find a way to be true to her love. What follows is a high-stakes battle of wills over the definition of freedom and the power of faith.
