The Scene

Produced off-Broadway at Second Stage Theatre last season, Theresa Rebeck’s biting comedy The Scene tells the tale of Charlie, a talented, yet unemployed actor who rails daily against the soulless emptiness of “the biz.”

Charlie’s life is blown apart when he meets Clea, a 20-something fresh off the bus from Ohio with voracious appetite for men and a ditzy combination of worldliness and naïveté. In a little black dress, she predatorily stalks her way into his life, fulfilling his fantasies — but leaving him feeling emptier than ever. But perhaps that was what he wanted all along…
