Gateway Playhouse presents the blockbuster musical Dreamgirls, the story of a Supremes-style girl group singing…and struggling…their way to the top of the charts, finding, losing, and regaining success on stage and in their personal lives. One of the great American musicals of the 1980’s, Dreamgirls was nominated for 11 Tony Awards, winning six, including Best Book.

The show features a powerful score by Tom Eyen and Harry Krieger including the title song, the bright pop "One Night Only" and the showstopper "And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going." The score won a Grammy Award in 1982 for Best Cast Show Album.

Dreamgirls is directed and choreographed by John Dietrich.
