The Secret Rapture positions two sisters, one a partner in a small design studio, the other a Margaret Thatcher-like rising politician, with the girls’ young alcoholic stepmother in an unsparing exploration of greed versus goodness. From the beginning scene of a daughter grieving at her father’s bedside through the shocking final scenes, this dramatic play echoes Shakespeare’s King Lear.
