Aptly set in lovely outdoor Austin Gardens, Talley’s Folly takes place on a summer day in 1944. An ornate, deserted Victorian boathouse in Lebanon, Missouri is the backdrop for the courtship of the young Sally Talley and her Jewish suitor, Matt Friedman. Michael Weber directs.
Written by Lanford Wilson, Talley’s Folly is the winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, and has been hailed by The New York Post as a “funny, sweet, touching and marvelously written and contrived love poem for an apple and an orange.”
