Suburban Motel

About the Show

Famous Door Theatre Company (FDTC) presents two plays from Suburban Motel, a collection of six plays set in the same seedy motel room by George F. Walker, one of Canada’s most prominent, acclaimed and controversial playwrights. Each performance consists of these two one-hour plays, separated by a 15-minute intermission – first Adult Entertainment then Criminal Genius, darkly comic tales of tenderness from the gritty side of life.

Adult Entertainment follows two cops on a downward spiral of corruption, drunkenness, violence and broken relationships. Criminal Genius introduces a group of petty crooks whose best-laid plans to burn down a local restaurant go horribly awry. The Jeff Award-winning directing team Marc Grapey (Famous Door co-founder and co-artistic director) and David Cromer work together again on this project – Adult Entertainment directed by Grapey and Criminal Genius directed by Cromer.
