By now you know the routine. The actor just met the writer 30 seconds ago. They will receive a Chicago-themed writing prompt. After tonight they will never be the same. They have stepped into the realm of Monodogs of War.
Each team is given their writing prompt and 35 minutes to create a brand new two-minute monologue. The actor will perform the monologue for the audience. The writer will wring her hands and pray for the best.
“This thing has developed into a fun way to spend an evening networking and testing our chops,” n.u.f.a.n. ensemble’s Artistic Director and Monodog creator Paul Barile said. “See free theater and meet interesting people? What could be better?"
“Monodogs of War” is a chance to for artists to work under pressure and create something fresh while competing with like minded artists.
“This program – more important than the actual performance – is a chance for audiences to see the artists’ process,” Barile said. “This program gives them a glimpse of the inner workings of live theater.
