New York City
Set in New York City, Knowing Cairo deals with the complex relationships between three women; Rose, an elderly German-Jewish woman, her grown daughter Lydia and the mother’s African-American caretaker Winsome. Under Winsome’s care, Rose begins to open up to the world outside her apartment, however at the expense of her daughter’s feelings. This play, which explores issues of trust, love, race and family obligations, is alternately funny, moving and disturbing.
