About This Show

When the director of Paris’s illustrious Théâtre de la Ville staged Rhinoceros ten years ago, he developed a fascination for Ionesco’s humor and his obsessions with cohabitation and solitude. Emmanuel Demarcy-Mota and his artistic collective re-examine the playwright’s work—bringing its characters to life through excerpts from seven plays, including The Lesson and The Bald Soprano. The action on stage proves the artistry of one of the most prominent figures of French avant-garde theater remains as hilarious and hard-hitting as ever.
