New York City
Oklahoma! is the show that set the standard for modern musical theatre. Rodgers & Hammerstein’s first collaboration became an instant classic and garnered the New York Drama League distinction of “Best Musical of the Century” in 1993. Set in the territory of Oklahoma at the turn of the century, against a background of the rivalry between cattlemen and farmers, the show is the story of a farm girl, Laurey, and the two rivals for her affection- the cowboy Curly and Jud, the brooding farmhand. Audiences will leave the theatre humming classic musical favorites such as “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin,” “People Will Say We’re In Love,” and the legendary title song.
