One of the most eagerly awaited shows of the season, Crowns is the gospel music-infused story of a defiant young Brooklyn girl sent to stay with her Southern grandmother. Her journey becomes a discovery of her spiritual connection to her Grandmother’s community of African American women and their tradition of wearing church hats or “crowns” on Sunday. Kent Gash, nationally acclaimed director, choreographer and Associate Artistic Director of the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, makes his own journey home to direct his first major production in his hometown of Denver.
Additional performances on Monday, May 15 and 22 at 6:30pm and Sunday, June 4, 11 and 18 at 1:30pm.
