Freedom Concert

Recovery Theatre presents Freedom Concert, featuring the legendary Last Poets and Marvin X. The concert also features the music of Tarika Lewis on violin, Tacuma King on djembe and Kele Nitoto on percussion. They accompany Marvin X, along with dancer Raynetta Raynetta. The Last Poets and Marvin X are considered the godfathers of modern spoken word and black theatre. Their careers began together in the revolutionary Harlem renaissance of the 60s, along with Amiri Baraka, Nikki Giovanni, Sonia Sanchez and others.
