J’La Chic Productions introduces alternative music genres to its Thursday evening “Vegas by the Bay” Cabaret, hosting A Night of Swing! with Jonathan Poretz and the Mood Swing Orchestra on April 19. Every Thursday evening, “Vegas by the Bay” Cabaret guests experience appetizing dinner fare, enthralling libations, magnificent cabaret shows and superb musical theater followed by live music by extraordinary Bay Area vocal trio Pure Ecstasy to round out the evening.
Imagine it’s 1962 and Las Vegas is ablaze with stars – swingin’ ones that is. First names that didn’t need last ones, like Frank, Dean, Sammy, Tony and a young upstart named Bobby. Jonathan Poretz, who tours the country as Frank Sinatra in the long-running Vegas show The Rat Pack is Back, is joined by members of The Tribute big band for a swingin’ salute to that special time on the Vegas Strip! Poretz swings like it’s the Sixties, performing some of the best-loved classics from that era, including: “Fly Me To the Moon,” “Mack The Knife,” “Beyond the Sea,” “I Left My Heart In San Francisco,” “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head,” “Luck Be A Lady,” “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” “My Way,” and many more.
Poretz brings an electric energy to any stage he’s on, a talent he’s been cultivating since his early teens when he sang professionally in bands that featured jazz greats Charlie Shavers, Chuck Wayne and Joe Puma in his home town of New York City.
