Santa Ana College Theatre Arts Department is proud to present The Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare’s classic “battle of the sexes!” One of the Bard’s best-loved comedies, it is the story of the wild and ill tempered Kate and Petruccio, a brash young man from Verona. When Petruccio arrives in Padua to find a wife, he gets more than he bargained for. It is the story of a wager, a fortune, of loyalty, of a wedding, of disguises, and most of all a story of love. This version takes place in Italy at the end of World War II. Baptista Minola is a landowner finally getting his life back in order after the fighting, and trying to marry off his daughters Katherine and Bianca. Petruccio is a fortune hunting American GI who hopes to land a rich wife before returning to the United States. Join Katherine and Petruccio, as they set the stage for a delightful spar of wits, wills, and love.
