About This Show

Noted National Public Radio commentator, performer and writer Sandra Tsing Loh’s irreverent one-woman show Sugar Plum Fairy playfully pokes fun at the season’s kitschy excess in a humorous, touching trip down memory lane. Loh grew up in 1970s San Fernando Valley suburbia, with immigrant parents who pushed their two daughters to excel at music, ballet, and science. Recounting Loh’s 12-year-old angst as an aspiring ballerina passed over for the starring role in a school production of The Nutcracker, Sugar Plum Fairy is “quirky, whimsical” (San Franscisco Chronicle) and “looks like a deluxe present from F.A.O. Schwartz” (Seattle Times).
