The new show Spontaneous Fantasia defies easy categorization, combining several art forms at once, as it does. It involves a man giving a live physical performance, so it’s theater. It involves the spontaneous improvisation of extravagant visual images through special effects, so it’s art. It’s done to the accompaniment of a score featuring original music composed by the performer, so there’s also a musical component.
