About This Show

The producers of Sex, Lies + Corsets initially underestimated the appeal of their show and have now added an additional limited engagement of nine performances at Edgemar Center commencing November 6. It’s summarized as "two catfights, a century apart." Audiences love to watch beautiful women in contention, from Bette Davis and Joan Crawford to Sarah Bernhardt and Eleonora Duse (to cite just two examples).
The themed evening presents one classic and one contemporary short play .

The Stronger. In Swedish playwright August Strindberg’s 1889 dramatic sketch, it is revealed that Madame X and Mlle. Y have competed not only professionally, but for the same man. Mlle. Y has had a pull on the heart of the man to whom Madame X is married and for whom she has borne children. One of these two women will prove to be The Stronger. Whom will it be? Bret Crain and Christina Dow star. Katelyn Statton is featured.

Elina De Santos directs. One of L.A.’s most-awarded directors, her most recent credits include Proof at The Odyssey and Macha Theatres, and Asses and Elephants at The Other Space at Santa Monica Playhouse.

Rosemary With Ginger. The 1994 play by the remarkably prolific contemporary playwright Edward Allan Baker pairs two sisters in crisis. Rosemary is an alcoholic with a jerk boy friend, and she is locked in a bitter custody battle with her ex-husband for her kids. Ginger’s got her own man problems. She’s distraught over discovering her husband masturbating to a music video. She has also crucially contributed to Rosemary’s present legal difficulties. Sparks will fly. Can these two women ever be true sisters to each other again? Caitlin Durham and Delaina Mitchell star.

Jeff Murray directs. Best known as the co-founder of Theatre Theater, he received the Career Achievement in Theatre Award from L.A. Weekly this past spring.
