About the Show

An award-winning chronicle of the lives of women who helped tame America’s wild frontiers, Quilters is a musical mosaic stitching together the joys and sorrows of the pioneer woman through the designing of a quilt. The story centers on a mother who gathers her six daughters to piece together her “Legacy Quilt.” Song, dance and monologues combine to create a heartwarming ritual in which they make the quilt through different patterns or “blocks” that symbolize events in their lives. As these events are enacted on stage the quilt blocks are sewn together. The final product is a testament to the strength, creativity and spirit of all pioneer women. Newsweek Magazine describes it as “A tender and moving theatre work, a human patchwork rippling with the breeze of memory.”

The play moves to the Solvang Festival Theatre starting Friday, September 24th. Schedule varies. Contact box office.
