New York City
This year, for the first time ever, the New Original Works (NOW) Festival at the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater (REDCAT) moved to the fall, spread across three weekends, each featuring a triple bill of premieres. The 17th annual festival, a celebration of Los Angeles’ vibrant community of artists creating contemporary performance works, concludes Dec. 10-12, 2020. Presented virtually from the REDCAT stage, Week Three will apply chance operation to classical Korean dance in dancer-choreographer DaEun Jung’s Byoul Part 1: 246 at 40; bring to life the history and myth of the Trojan War with a Vatican tour guide in Maria Garcia and Samantha Mohr’s Laocoön with Cabiria at 9; and invite viewers into the labyrinth of female relationships as expressed through visceral movement in Genna Moroni’s More.
