Innocent Until

Innocent Until is read by professional actors in an informal gallery setting. It’s about an ambitious state attorney leading the prosecution of a 12-year-old boy charged in the shooting death of a police officer. In researching the play, Cooney spent four months immersed in Florida’s juvenile justice system, interviewing judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, prison guards and reporters, as well as incarcerated youth.
