About This Show

The Laguna Playhouse Theatre for a New Generation program presents the world premiere of Cut. Adapted & directed by Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre director Joe Lauderdale from the acclaimed book by Patricia McCormick, Cut is the fourth offering in a series of issue-oriented plays for teens and their parents.

McCormick’s book was named “Best Book for Young Adults” by the American Library Association in 2002. It depicts a troubled teenager who cuts herself to relieve inner frustrations and guilt. Joining treatment with girls struggling with their own problems, she is helped to overcome self-injury and to cope with the challenges of her life.

The play is recommended for age 13 and above (under age 5 not admitted). Following each performance, there will be a question and answer session with the Lauderdale, the cast and an area therapist who is experienced in working with self-injuring teens.
