Peter Nero to Present Gala Concert Isn’t It Grand!

Peter Nero will perform solo piano at a gala concert in the Perelman Theater at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, April 10. Joined by bassist Michael Barnett, the concert will include a program of jazz and swing, and the Gala festivities include pre-concert cocktails and dinner in the Dorrance H. Hamilton Rooftop Garden, overlooking the Avenue of the Arts.

Nero has built a career as a conductor, arranger, composer, and master pianist, and he was recently dubbed “Dr. Feelgood,” for his ability to pick material. He won the Grammy Award for “Best New Artist” in 1961, another in 1962, and he garnered 10 additional nominations and released 67 albums.

A portion of the proceeds benefit the Peter Nero and the Philly Pops education and community partnership programs. Immediately following the concert, all-inclusive ticket holders will attend a post-concert champagne reception with Mr. Nero.
