New York City
Full casting has been announced for Taylor Mac’s ”Hir” and Jordan Harrison’s ”Marjorie Prime”.
Playwrights Horizons has announced complete casting for its upcoming New York premiere productions of Hir by theater artist Taylor Mac (A 24-Decade History of Popular Music) and 2015 Pulitzer Prize finalist Marjorie Prime, by Jordan Harrison (Maple and Vine).
Directed by theater director and performance artist Niegel Smith (Fela!), Hir (October 16-November 29) is described as a "subversive comedy" that follows Isaac, who has returned from the wars to help take care of his ailing father, only to discover a household in revolt. The cast will feature Kristine Nielsen (You Can’t Take It With You), Daniel Oreskes (The Revisionist), Tom Phelan (The Fosters), and Cameron Scoggins (Pocatello).
Anne Kauffman (Detroit) will direct Marjorie Prime (November 20-January 3). Harrison's new work follows 86-year-old Marjorie, who has a handsome new companion who is programmed to feed the story of her life back to her. Noah Bean (Damages), Lisa Emery (Casa Valentina), Stephen Root (All My Sons), and Lois Smith (John) will star. Marjorie Prime was commissioned by Playwrights Horizons in association with Theater Masters and Its Visionary Playwright Award, and with additional funds provided by the Harold and Mimi Steinberg Commissioning Program.
