First Look at Lonesome Blues Starring Akiń Babatundé

The York Theatre Company and Documentary Arts world-premiere production of Lonesome Blues, based on the life of blues musician Blind Lemon Jefferson, has released its first photos. The production is currently running through July 1.

Created by Alan Govenar and Akiń Babatundé, the musical builds on their show Blind Lemon Blues, which the York presented in 2007 and 2009. Katherine Owens directs Babatundé in 10 different roles, including Jefferson, the blind bluesman who became one of the most prolific and influential performers of his generation.
