PHOTO FLASH: Opening Night of Atlantic Theater Company’s Bluebird

Atlantic Theater Company opened its production of Simon Stephens’ Bluebird, at Atlantic Stage 2 on Monday, August 22. Gaye Taylor Upchurch has directed the production, which runs through September 9.

The play centers on a London taxi driver named Jimmy MacNeill, who seems to draw personal stories and confessions from his passengers without even trying. Over the course of the play, the truth of Jimmy’s own life and secret burdens unfurls with each new “fare.”

The company features Simon Russell Beale, Kate Blumberg, Michael Countryman, Mary McCann, Mara Measor, Charlotte Parry, Tobias Segal, John Sharian, and Todd Weeks. Among the guests at opening night were actors Kathryn Erbe and Isiah Whitlock, Jr.
