Molly Ranson and Marin Mazzie, who as previously reported will star as Carrie and her mother Margaret in MCC Theater’s forthcoming revival of the musical Carrie, will perform in the company’s Revisiting Carrie, at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on August 1 at 7pm.

This event will allow audience members to go behind the scenes of the revival, as bookwriter Lawrence D. Cohen, composer Michael Gore, lyricist Dean Pitchford, and director Stafford Arima will discuss the process of revisiting and reimagining this infamous musical, based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel.

This version of Carrie is set today, in the small town of Chamberlain, Maine. It centers on Carrie White, an outcast who’s bullied by the popular crowd, and at the mercy of her loving but cruelly over-protective mother. But Carrie’s just discovered she’s got a special power, and if pushed too far, she’s not afraid to use it.

The evening will include the first public performance of all-new songs and vocal arrangements, sung by Ranson, Mazzie, and other cast members.
