Ha’Penny Bridge Cancels San Francisco Engagement

| New York City |

January 28, 2008

The musical Ha’Penny Bridge has cancelled its planned engagement at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Theatre, which was to run July 6-August 10. No replacement production has been named, although Ha’Penny Bridge was itself supposed to replace the previously announced pre-Broadway engagement of The Wiz, which has been postponed due to schedule conflicts.

In a statement, producer Garrett McGuckian said, “It is with regret that we will be canceling the scheduled engagement of Ha’Penny Bridge, but as producers, we feel that the production is not yet ready.” Written and composed by Alastair McGuckian, Ha’Penny Bridge is a love story set in Dublin during the Irish civil war in the early 1920s, a time of heightened nationalistic tension, greed, and deceit.
