Guerilla Opera is set to present Rudolf Rojan’s Bovinus Rex, May 24-27 in The Zack Box at The Boston Conservatory. Copeland Woodruff will direct.

Bovinus Rex is a contemporary spin on the Oedipus story. In it, an animal farmer invents a machine to slaughter his entire herd in order to pay off his crippling debt, but when his animal rights activist-daughter decides to infiltrate her father’s farm, things spin out of control.

The cast will feature Kimberly Soby (soprano), Amy Advocat (bass-clarinet), Ethan Wood (violin), Aliana de la Guardia (soprano), Patrick Massey (tenor), and Brian Church (baritone). Live music will be provided by Kent O’Doherty (saxophone), Mike Williams (percussion), Amy Advocat (bass-clarinet), and Ethan Wood (violin).

The design team will include Julia Noulin-Mérat (set design), Anita Shriver (props design), Tlaloc Lopez-Watermann (lighting design), and Neil Fortin (costume design).
