Gabriel Byrne will direct Gerard Mannix Flynn’s one-man show James X. The production will begin performances on December 6 at 45 Bleecker Theatre in anticipation of a December 9 opening.
The play, which will star its author, centers on a man waiting to give testimony to a tribunal investigating the sexual and physical abuse of children within the Catholic Church.
Byrne received a Tony nomination for his performance in A Moon for the Misbegotten, and most recently starred on Broadway in A Touch of the Poet. In addition, he played King Arthur in the New York Philharmonic’s 2008 concert performances of Camelot.
