Lewis Black will host MCC Theater’s annual gala, Miscast 2012, to be held at Hammerstein Ballroom on Monday, March 26 beginning at 6:30pm.

The event features Broadway’s hottest stars performing songs from roles in which they would never be cast. This year’s roster of performers will include Laura Benanti, Christian Borle, Norbert Leo Butz, Jonathan Groff, Megan Hilty, Nikki M. James, Steven Pasquale, and more. The musical director for the evening will be Phil Reno.

The gala will honor the creators of the musical Carrie: composer Michael Gore, lyricist Dean Pitchford, and writer Lawrence D. Cohen “for their bold, daring, risk-taking spirit.” MCC is presenting a reworked revival of Carrie, directed by Stafford Arima and starring Marin Mazzie and Molly Ranson, which begins performances January 31, with an opening on March 1.

Funds raised from Miscast will go to help MCC Theater produce new work Off Broadway and to support their Youth Company and in-school partnerships that serve New York City public high school students, as well as their literary development work with emerging playwrights.
