Rosalyn Coleman, Andrea McArdle, Alice Playten, Rocco Sisto, et al. Set for Fornés Festival

Additional casting has been announced for events in the 2010 New York Fornés Festival, which as previously announced, will feature presentations of the acclaimed writer’s works at multiple venues around Manhattan, March 25 – April 5

Rocco Sisto will star in the kick-off event, Dr. Kheal & Tango Palace, directed by Gisela Cardenas at Cherry Lane Theatre, on Thursday, March 25. There will also be a talkback following the performance with Caridad Svich, co-dditor of Conducting a Life: Reflections on the Theatre of Maria Irene Fornes.

Rosalyn Coleman will co-star with Rebecca Schull in Fefu and Her Friends, directed by Billy Hopkins at Theatre for a New City, on Monday, March 29. Megan Byrne, Janna Gjesdal, Gian Murray Gianino, B. Brian Argotsinger and Amelia Workman will be featured in Summer in Gossensass, directed by Alice Reagan on Tuesday, March 30, at the same venue.

Migdalia Cruz will give a presentation following Successful Life of 3, directed by Zishan Ugurlu at The Goldberg Theatre on Friday, April 2. Excerpts from Michelle Memran’s film The Rest I Make Up”: Documenting Irene will be shown on Saturday, April 3 at the same venue, with the event also including a panel discussion with a number of actors who have originated roles in Fornes works, including Rebecca Schull, Aileen Passloff, Sheila Dabney, Edmund Gaynes, and Alice Playten. Scott T. Cummings will moderate.

Mayra Ferrer, Felipe Javier Gorostiza, Jacquelyn Landgraf and Kay Matschullat will direct What of the Night? at the Cherry Lane on Monday, April 5. As previously reported, Andrea McArdle, Jim Brochu, Victoria Mallory, Loni Ackerman, Virginia Seidel, Neva Small, Gene Castle, Brian Childers, Haviland Stillwell, Tim Ewing, Dale Radunz will perform in a concert reading of Maria Irene Fornés and Al Carmines’ Promenade on Monday, April 12 at New World Stages, directed by Pamela Hall, with musical direction by Ken Lundie.

The festival is presented by INTAR and NYU’s Department of English and its Program in Dramatic Literature to celebrate Fornés’ 80th birthday.
