The 2009 MAC Awards were held at BB Kings Blues Club at 7:30pm on Monday, May 18. The ceremony was directed by Lennie Watts and co-hosted by Andrea Marcovicci and Nancy Witter.
Awards were be presented in nearly 30 competitive categories. Winners included Jackie Hoffman, Mario Cantone, Karen Mason, Shaynee Rainbolt, Carol Hall, Marilyn Maye, Klea Blackhurst & Billy Stritch, Terese Genneco, Marcus Simeone, Cait Doyle, Ben Cherry, Shawn Ryan, Karen Oberlin & Miles Phillips, the revue Nashville, the Cabaret Cares series of benefits, Jim Caruso’s Cast Party, Anne Steele, Eric Pickering, Tracy Stark, Jack Donahue, Laurie Krauz, and Daryl Sherman.
In addition, Polly Bergen received the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Board of Directors Awards was given to Joey Reynolds and Myra Chanin of The Joey Reynolds Show and Eva Swann and Vocal Ease for bringing Broadway and Cabaret talent to hospitals, nursing homes, and senior centers. The TimeOut New York Special Achievement Award was presented to Poor Baby Bree.
