Daniel Sullivan’s staging of The Merchant of Venice, starring Al Pacino as Shylock, is now in rehearsal. The production will perform at the Delacorte Theatre in repertory with Michael Greif’s staging of The Winter’s Tale, June 9-August 1.

The repertory company for the plays will also feature Gerry Bamman (Antigonus/Duke of Venice), Francois Battiste (Florizel/Lord/Salerio), Linda Emond (Hermione), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Young Shepherd/Lord/Launcelot Gobbo), Bill Heck (Lord/Lorenzo), Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Paulina/Nerissa), Ruben Santiago-Hudson (Leontes), Byron Jennings (Camillo/Antonio), Heather Lind (Perdita/Jessica), Hamish Linklater (Autolycus/Lord/Bassanio), Jesse L. Martin (Polixenes/Gratiano), Nyambi Nyambi (Lord/Prince of Morocco), Lily Rabe (Portia), Matthew Rauch (Dion/Jailer/Solanio), Richard Topol (Lord/Tubal) and Max Wright (Old Shepherd/Prince of Arragon).

Pacino is a two-time Tony Award winner for his work in Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie? and The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel. His other Broadway appearances include American Buffalo, Hughie, and Salome. He won an Oscar for Scent of a Woman, and his many films include The Godfather trilogy, Dog Day Afternoon, Glengarry Glen Roos, and Frankie and Johnny. He also won the Emmy Award for his portrayal of Roy Cohn in HBO’s miniseries version of Angels in America.
