Composer Philip Glass will celebrate his 75th birthday season with a series of performance and events across the globe.

He will present the world premiere of his Symphony No. 9 by Bruckner Orchestra Linz in Austria before the symphony’s New York City premiere at Carnegie Hall on Glass’s 75th birthday on January 31, 2012.

Additional highlights will be a reprise of Satyagraha at the Metropolitan Opera (November 4-December 1); the previously announced international tour of Einstein on the Beach (including a stop at BAM in September 2012); the first fully staged North American performance of the opera Kepler at Spoletto Festival USA (June 2012); and the world premiere of The Perfect American, a new opera about the death of Walt Disney (January 2013).

As previously reported, Glass is also penning a memoir, due out in 2012.
