Casting has been announced for a staged reading of Doric Wilson’s Street Theater, to be offered June 18 at 7pm at The LGBT Community Center. Mark Finley will direct the performance, which will benefit Wilson’s TOSOS theater company.

The play focuses on a diverse array of characters during the days and weeks leading up to the Stonewall Riots in June 1969. The company will feature Chris Andersson, Patrick Askin, Eilis Mary Cahill, Jonathan Cedano, Joe DeFeo, Desmond Dutcher, Oliver Houser, Michael Lynch, Nick Mathews, Jim Nugent, Rebecca Nyahay, Carlos Ponton, Ben Strothmann, and Bradley Wells.

The event will also feature a post-performance cash bar reception with the cast, director, playwright, and veterans of Stonewall and the early days of the movement. The reading is being held in conjunction with Gay Pride 2010, and as an adjunct to the showing of the new documentary film Stonewall Uprising.

As previously reported, Wilson will receive the 2010 PassionFruit Award for Enduring and Continuing Pioneer Work in LGBT Theater on June 21 in a ceremony to be held by the Fresh Fruit Festival.
