Dave Malloy's electro-pop opera has extended its run on 45th Street.
Dave Malloy's acclaimed electro-pop opera, Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 has extended its run at the specially built supper club tent Kazino on 45th Street through Sunday, March 2. The production was originally scheduled to close January 5 and had previously pushed its closing date to January 19.
Inspired by a slice of Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace, Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 follows Natasha Rostova as she awaits the arrival of her fiancé from the frontlines and falls under the spell of Moscow and the city's most charming rogue. The immersive production began at Ars Nova in the fall of 2012 and later moved to a specially created venue called Kazino in the meatpacking district. After critical acclaim, producers decided to transfer the production and its custom venue to the theater district.
The current cast features Phillipa Soo as Natasha, David Abeles as Pierre, Brittain Ashford as Sonya, Blake DeLong as Bolkonsky/Andrey, Amber Gray as Hélène, Nick Choksi as Dolokhov, Grace McLean as Marya D., Ashkon Davaran as Balaga, Lucas Steele as Anatole, and Shaina Taub as Princess Mary.
