Atlanta Lyric Theatre will present a return engagement of the musical Smoke on the Mountain, running July 27-August 5 at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre.

The hit bluegrass and gospel musical, which includes the popular hymns “I’ll Fly Away,” “Bringing in the Sheaves,” and “Power in the Blood,” will star the original Theatre in the Square cast members Alan Kilpatrick (Reverend Mervin Oglethorpe), Karen Howell (Vera), Jennifer Akin (June), John Peterson (Burl), and Scott DePoy (Uncle Stanley). Kilpatrick and Howell direct the production, which features musical direction by Michael Monroe.

The previously scheduled production of Legally Blonde the Musical, which was to play the theater, will relocate to the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre at The Cobb Civic Center Complex. Brandt Blocker directs the musical, with choreography by Karen Hebert, for a run August 10-26.
