Is Lady Gaga Making Fun of Stagedoor Manor in this SNL Sketch?
Gaga hosted Saturday Night Live last week and the results were quite theatrical, including a sketch about an acting camp for precocious kids.
Kids performing scenes from Breaking Bad and Training Day? Spotlightz Acting Camp certainly looks a lot like Stagedoor Manor, the Upstate New York drama camp for teens that refers to itself as a "Training Center." Stagedoor is famous for putting kids in musicals like Rent and Avenue Q, shows that would normally be reserved for adult actors. SNL does a decent parody, but in all fairness, I'm pretty sure Stagedoor would have left in the swear words. I suppose that's the advantage of the stage over broadcast TV: no FCC regulations.
