Band's Visit Stars to Join David Yazbek in Concert
Ari'el Stachel and John Cariani will perform alongside their Broadway composer at Feinstein's/54 Below.
Tony-nominated composer David Yazbek, currently represented on Broadway by the new musical The Band's Visit, will return Feinstein's/54 Below on March 12 at 7pm for an encore show after seven prior sold-out events. Yazbek previously performed at Feinstein's/54 Below in December 2017, with special guest Katrina Lenk (star of The Band's Visit), followed by a recent event this month with George Abud. Prior guest performers at his shows have included Patti LuPone, Michael Cerveris, Anaïs Mitchell, and Patrick Wilson.
Joining him on March 12 are a pair of special guests from The Band's Visit, Ari'el Stachel (Lortel and Drama Desk Award nominee for The Band's Visit) and John Cariani (Something Rotten!, Tony nominee for Fiddler on the Roof). The concert will feature songs from Yazbek's albums and shows — old, new, and upcoming.
Yazbek's previous credits include The Full Monty (Tony nomination), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Tony nomination), Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (Tony nomination), Boardwalk Empire, and the Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego theme.
Based on Eran Kolirin's film, The Band's Visit tells the story of the Alexandria Ceremonial Police Band, which lands in Israel and is inadvertently sent in the wrong direction. Soon, the band finds itself in a small settlement in the heart of the Negev desert with no transportation going out until morning and no hotel in sight. The musical opened November 9, 2017, at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, where it is currently running.
