Andrea Martin, the Tony-winning star of Broadway’s acclaimed revival of Pippin, received one of the theatrical community’s highest honors: a caricature for the walls of famed eatery Sardi’s, at an afternoon ceremony on August 29.
On hand to toast the actress were her longtime friends and colleagues including Tony-winning actress Debra Monk, Pippin actor Matthew James Thomas, and other Pippin castmates.
Martin won her first Tony 20 years ago for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for My Favorite Year. With three nominations in between, her high-flying portrayal of grandmother Berthe in Pippin, now playing at the Music Box Theatre, brought along the actress’ second win in that category. Martin will leave the production September 22 to star in the new Global TV series Working the Engels.
